Perkins Windmill Restoration
Erected in 1853, the Perkins Windmill is one of Michigan’s earliest surviving examples of wind‑powered farm technology. For decades, its turning sails pumped water into the farm’s underground milk cellar, keeping dairy cool long before electric refrigeration. Today, the windmill stands still—but with your help, we can restore it to working order. Reviving the gears and sails will let visitors see renewable energy in action, deepen school programs on 19th‑century ingenuity, and safeguard a unique piece of our agricultural heritage for generations to come. Join us in keeping history turning.
